SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) is the flagship program of the Election Commission of India. Its primary goal is to educate, spread awareness, and promote voter literacy among Indian citizens. Here are some key points about SVEEP:
Aims. It aims to increase awareness about the electoral process and encourage informed participation.
Customized Approach: The program is designed based on the socio-economic, cultural, and demographic profile of each state, as well as historical patterns of electoral participation.
Awareness Materials: The Election Commission produces voter awareness materials disseminated through print media, electronic media, and social media.
Vision: SVEEP aims to enlighten, enable, and empower every citizen to register as a voter and cast their vote in an informed and ethical manner. It strives for universal and enlightened participation in elections and democracy.
 Objectives (2022-25):
- Increase voter turnout to 75% in Lok Sabha elections 2024 by:
- Purifying electoral rolls at every polling booth.
- Bridging the gender gap in enrollment and turnout.
- Ensuring inclusion of non-voters and marginalized sections through targeted interventions, technological solutions, and policy changes.
- Addressing urban and youth apathy in electoral participation.
- Turning around low-turnout constituencies and polling stations.
- Enhance the quality of electoral participation through continuous education on voting ethics and democracy.
- Increase voter turnout to 75% in Lok Sabha elections 2024 by:
- Â Voter Registration:
- Indian citizens who turn 18 on the qualifying dates (January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1) of the year can register online as General Voters using Form 6 on the National Voters’ Service Portal.
- Offline registration is also possible by filling Form 6 available at Electoral Registration Offices.Remember, SVEEP plays a crucial role in building a participative democracy in India.
