The Bharat Scouts and Guides (BSG) is the national Scouting and Guiding association of India. Founded in 1909 as an overseas branch of the Scout Association, it became a member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement in 1938. BSG is a voluntary, non-political, and secular organization that aims to provide non-formal education to young people.BSG follows the purpose, principles, and methods conceived by the Founder Lord Baden-Powell in 1907. It’s a wonderful organization that encourages young people to learn, grow, and contribute positively to society

  1. Vision: BSG aspires to create passion for a better nation. By 2024, it aims to be a globally visible organization with international standards, consistently growing, self-reliant, gender-balanced, vibrant, and responsive to trends.

  2. Youth Movement: BSG offers quality non-formal education through an attractive and challenging youth program. It encourages equal representation and opportunities for both genders.

  3. Leadership Development: BSG focuses on developing competent leaders who can effectively communicate, use technology, and manage resources efficiently.

  4. Adventure Activities: BSG organizes adventure programs to promote adventure activities for members within the age group of 12 to 45 years.

  5. National Headquarters: The National Headquarters of BSG is located in New Delhi, India, at Lakshmi Mazumdar Bhawan.

The Motto of the Scout movement, in various languages, has been used by millions of Scouts around the world since 1907 The Scout Motto is: BE PREPARED which means you are always in a state of readiness in mind and body to do your duty.

  • Be Prepared in Mind by having disciplined yourself to be obedient to every order, and also by having thought out beforehand any accident or situation that might occur, so that you know the right thing to do at the right moment, and are willing to do it.
  • Be Prepared in Body by making yourself strong and active and able to do the right thing at the right moment, and do it
